What Is a Certified Translation in the UK?
A certified translation is a translation that comes with a signed statement from the translator or the translation company. The statement confirms that the translation is a true and accurate version of the original document. In the UK, this is the format most commonly requested by the Home Office, UKVI, HM Passport Office, courts, universities and employers.
GOV.UK guidance says a certified translation should include confirmation that it is a true and accurate translation of the original, the date of the translation, and the full name and contact details of the translator or company. Every translation we issue includes these details. We also attach a copy of the original so the receiving organisation can compare the two.
Why the small details matter
In practice, most delays come from small details rather than big mistakes. A name spelled differently from the passport, a stamp that was left untranslated or a missing date can be enough for a caseworker to ask for a new translation. We check for these issues before anything is sent back to you, so you can submit your documents with more confidence.
Language adds its own challenges. Arabic names can be spelled in several ways in English, so our Arabic immigration translation work includes a name check against your passport. Bangla documents often carry registrar seals and handwritten entries, which is why many clients choose our Bangla to English certified translation team to read them accurately.
